Where do you find inspiration for your design projects?

My initial inspiration for my projects comes directly from meeting with my client. There are always little bits of insight that I get from seeing how they use a space and how the space can evolve always keeping in mind their personal style. I run from there. I want to just enhance what the client already has and learn from the architectural bones and surroundings. Sometimes little elements like a mosaic tile from Oceanside can drive an entire color scheme for a room!

What is your process with your clients?

I always do an initial consultation with a client. Communication and gathering as much information as I can is the best start for my clients and me. I want to gain their confidence. The consultation is usually a make or break situation as I usually feel the initial connection.

How do you choose your materials?

The materials I chose for my clients are driven by the architecture and budget of the client’s needs. I do like to emphasize some of the smaller details. Those are the eye catchers that create the “jewelry to an outfit”. A space can be clean and simple but the right art, accessory or trim can dictate the mood of a room.

What is the most important quality when you are looking for tile?

One of the most important qualities in choosing tile for a client is consistency. This could have a broad meaning. Whether it is consistently distressed, clean or random, there needs to be continuity.

What is your favorite thing about working with Oceanside Glasstile?

I have been using Oceanside Glasstile for many years now. I love that when I am working on a scheme I start there. I get inspired by the blend of colors on the mosaics or the mass array of current color palette that allows me to drive the look of a space. I love working with a material that can pull an entire space together based on color, texture and blends…it’s like candy!
